Ms Chong is currently Deputy Director-General of Education (Professional Development) in the Ministry of Education (MOE). She also co-leads the sustainability agenda in MOE, overseeing the Eco Stewardship Programme which is the education pillar of the Singapore Green Plan 2030. She has served in various key appointments in the education service, with policy making experience at the Educational Policy Branch, Planning Division, MOE.

Ms Chong is also a member of Gardens by the Bay (Singapore) Board, and the National Institute of Education Council.

Ms Chong was awarded The Efficiency Medal in 2005, The Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2014 and The Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2020. She read History at the National University of Singapore and has a Masters of Education from Harvard University.
