PTC conducts research, consults stakeholders, and collaborates with the industry, schools, social service sectors to inform about public transport policies and enhance commuter experience.
Research and insights for better rides
PTC carries out research and surveys, as well as engages commuters through focus group discussions. This enables PTC to better understand commuters’ travel experience on public transport and make recommendations to improve the public transport system.
When making recommendations to enhance the travel experience, PTC also consults experts, partners and industry stakeholders to learn from best practices and ensure that different views are represented.
PTC also collaborates with local and international stakeholders to keep abreast of latest developments and review their feasibility for implementation in Singapore.
Collaboration
PTC collaborates with both local and overseas institutions as well as overseas transport authorities to exchange expertise and deepen knowledge in areas such as public transport fares regulation, delivering quality public transport and enhancing commuter experience.
Through memoranda of understanding, collaboration agreements, expert roundtable discussions, study visits, regional and international transport authorities meetings, PTC stays abreast of emerging trends and issues in the public transport industry.
PTC is a member of the Union Internationale des Transports Publics (UITP).
UITP Summit 2025

At the UITP Summit 2025 in Hamburg, PTC and Caring SG Commuters Committee Chairperson Ms Janet Ang shared on embedding diversity and inclusion in organisational culture. She highlighted some of the collaborations under the Caring SG Commuters movement, such as the Helping Hand Cards (Go-Ahead Singapore), SiLViA (SBS Transit), WeCare Rooms (SMRT) and CARE Bus (Tower Transit Singapore). PTC delegates also exchanged insights with counterparts from Amsterdam, Dallas, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Paris on fare structure, concession schemes and monthly passes for commuters, as well as ideas to foster a caring commuting culture.

At SITCE in November 2024, our PTC team engaged with the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand on public transport fares and ticketing systems.

At the ‘Fostering an Inclusive Commuting Culture in the Public Transport System’ roundtable, Chairperson Janet Ang joined public transport thought leaders from Gothenburg, London, Melbourne, Paris, Seoul and Taipei, to discuss creating more inclusive public transport experiences. She shared Singapore’s initiatives, to develop enablers of independent and confident commuting, and highlighted Caring Commuter Champions, who are trained to assist commuters with diverse needs. Ideas on using technology for wayfinding, cultivating inclusivity and experiences on collaborations with partners and stakeholders were also exchanged.

Chairperson Janet Ang participated in the Speaking Engagement Congress on Access for All: Closing Inclusivity Gaps in Public Transport at the LTA-UITP Singapore International Transport Congress & Exhibition 2024. She spoke about our journey in fostering an inclusive and caring commuting culture in Singapore that extends beyond physical infrastructure to develop human connections and empathy, making public transport accessible for everyone.

In June 2023, PTC participated in the UITP Global Public Transport Summit 2023, where our Chairperson, Ms Janet Ang, shared how Singapore balances public transport fare affordability and the financial sustainability of the public transport system.
