PTC Signs MOU With Norwegian’s Transport Authority

Today, the Public Transport Council (PTC) and Norwegian Transport Authority Ruter AS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen the exchange of knowledge and expertise in public transport policies and best practices.

Ruter AS is jointly owned by Oslo municipality and Akershus County Council. The company is responsible for developing, planning and operating public transport services in Oslo, Norway’s capital city and Akershus, the second most populated county in Norway. In carrying out its role, Ruter AS ensures that the public transport service actively contributes to the regions sustainability goals, operates in a financially sound manner and meets the targets set out by the Oslo municipality and Akershus County Council.

PTC’s Chief Executive, Mr Tan Kim Hong said: “With the fast changing urban mobility landscape, the collaboration between PTC and Ruter will allow for PTC to learn from Ruter’s experience in managing public transport services and handling emerging public transport trends. This collaboration will also deepen PTC’s research capability in measuring commuter sentiments and improving travel experiences by partnering a transport agency who is at the forefront of operationalising public transport policies.”

Ruter’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bern Reitan Jenssen said: “Ruter is delighted to be working closely with PTC and learn from their developments and innovations when it comes to influencing customer behavior and demand. This is a unique opportunity for us to widen our understanding of how techniques such as nudging, gamification and rewards can create better customer experiences and more sustainable freedom of movement.”
